Dr Srimathy Vijayan MRes, MRCP(Lond), FRACP
Consultant Neurologist and Movement Disorder specialist
Dr Srimathy Vijayan is a consultant neurologist in the Perron Institute for Neurological and Translational Science and Sir Charles Gairdner hospital.
Her key interest is movement disorders including the management of complex Parkinson’s Disease and advanced therapies, particularly that of deep brain stimulation (DBS) and programming. She also performs botulinum toxin (botox) injection for movement disorders including dystonia, hemifacial spasm and blepharospasm as well as for spasticity and migraine.
Dr Vijayan graduated from University of East Anglia Norwich UK in 2009. She completed junior medical training in London before pursuing her medical training at the prestigious John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. She obtained her Member of Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) London before moving to Australia in 2013. She trained in neurology at the three tertiary hospitals in the Perth area, Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH), Royal Perth Hospital and Fiona Stanley Hospital, and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2019.
She concurrently is undertaking her PhD through the University of Western Australia, in the field of Movement disorders looking specifically at the effects of Deep brain stimulation on breathing and sleep in Parkinson’s disease.
Dr Daniel Clarke BSc(Hons), MBChB(Hons), FRACP
Consultant Neurologist, sub-specialising in Cognition and Stroke
Dr Clarke is a Consultant Neurologist at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, The Neurosciences Unit at Graylands Hospital and at Hollywood Private Hospital. He graduated with first class honours from the University of St Andrews in Scotland, before continuing his medical education at the University of Manchester, again graduating with honours. He worked in Bath and Bristol before emigrating to Australia.
Dr Clarke completed his Physician and Specialist Neurology training here in Western Australia, and later completed a fellowship in Cognitive and Stroke Neurology.
Dr Clarke’s specialist interest include Stroke Neurology, cerebral amyloid angiopathy, dementia syndromes and acquired cognitive conditions including chronic traumatic encephalopathy. He is active in medical research at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, as well as at the Perron Institute and with the Australian Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.
Dr Brian L. Long BA (Hons), DPsych (Clin. Neuro.), MAPS, FCCN
Clinical Neuropsychologist
Dr Long is a Clinical Neuropsychologist with over 16 years experience conducting comprehensive neuropsychological assessments in both clinical and medico-legal settings. His background spans acute neurology, mental health, and geriatric neuropsychology, and he has a special interest in the differential diagnosis of dementia syndromes and the evaluation of decision-making capacity. Dr. Long has held senior clinical and operational leadership positions in the public health sectors of both Western Australia and Victoria.
Dr Long earned his doctoral degree in Clinical Neuropsychology from The University of Melbourne in 2008 and is a registered psychologist with AHPRA, with an Area of Practice Endorsement in Clinical Neuropsychology. Dr Long is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), a Fellow of the APS College of Clinical Neuropsychologists, a member of the Australian Neuropsychology Alliance of Training and Practice Leaders (ANATPL) and the Psychology Training and Public Health Workforce Alliance.
Dr Long remains actively involved in clinical research. He holds honorary appointments as a Professional Practice Fellow at the UWA School of Psychological Science and as an Honorary Associate at La Trobe University's School of Psychological Science. Dr Long is also an AHPRA-approved supervisor for clinical trainees and registrars.
